Fair Trade

It is time to confront the myth of the “free market”. Exports are important to American agriculture, but the total value of our farm exports continues to fall. Exports are important for American business, but “free trade” has come to mean “freedom to export American jobs.” People who live and work in our rural communities deserve better.

  • Worker rights, fair wages and environmental protections must be part of every trade agreement.

  • All countries must retain the right to develop food and farm programs that respond to the needs of their consumers and farmers.

  • Export dumping (the sale of goods below the cost of production) must end.
